Neckcheese Tutorial: Building a 1:24 Retro F1 chassis Materials: If you are not fond of cutting and drilling a droparm, a piece of 1/16" (1,6mm) 3/4" (19mm) wide brass rod combined with a guide tongue is an easier option Building jig is it necessary ? - yes for me at least. You can actually make one yourself from a piece of old kitchen table, MDF or similar. You need to drill holes to fix the axles + rails etc and jig wheels can be made of old sprockets etc. That's the way most of us started. But a "professional" jig like my RGEO is nice to have if you build many chassis and is also great for setting up your other chassis. I am on my second RGEO jig and use it nearly every time i work with my slot cars. Jig wheels are useful to establish the correct axle height. 1:12 Tamiya Porsche Turbo RSR 934 In 1982 me and my best friend bought 2 of this newly released Tamiya 1:12 plastic kit. Even though I had some problems with my kit, including frying the chassis pan in my oven while drying some paint, thanks to Tamiya's excellent service, I succeeded to finish the kit in the sunning Jägermeister livery. My friend did only some minor work on the kit, before other tasks took his attention, and the kit went into storage. In the early spring of 2013 my friend was scheduled to collect me an early morning for a slot car race in Odense and he brought me his kit for me to assemble with the message that he would not be able to finish it as he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer :-( what a morning !! He died in july 2014 after a terrible time, that nearly laid myself wasted :-( I did, however finish the kit in Brumos livery as per his instructions and he wanted me to keep the model as a memory.
